Since Garuda Airline serves several flights everyday to Jakarta and Bali, and vice versa, it is very easy to visit Yogyakarta for the province lies between Jakarta and Bali. It is also important to know that Indonesia has other domestic flight services: Merpati Airlines, Pelita Air, Mandala Airlines, Bouroq Airlines, Citilink, AW Air, Jatayu Airlines, Star Airlines.

Another means of transportation is the railway service. It connects Yogyakarta with Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya via many cities along the routes. Among the train service, there is a night train, Bima, which has sleeping compartments. It connects Jakarta and Surabaya via Yogyakarta. Mutiara and Lodaya train connects Bandung and Surabaya also via Yogyakarta. Others are Senja Utama Yogyakarta, Senja Utama Solo, Argo Bromo, Argo Dwipangga, Taksaka, Senja Mataram and Jayabaya.
Day trains from Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Solo are also available although not as convenient as night ones. Fajar Utama, Argo Lawu, and Argo Wilis, the morning train from Yogyakarta is sufficient and provides the same service as Senja Utama.

In addition to the regular public buses, there are night-buses from and to Bali, Bandung, Jakarta, or even some of the main cities in Sumatera. Reservation is needed for a good seat.
